From 2 August 1999 to July 2004, companies from different industries such as Toyota, Panasonic, Kinki Nippon Tourist and Kokuyo The WiLL project was a joint project in which companies from different industries, such as Toyota, Panasonic, Kinki Nippon Tourist and Kokuyo, each released products and services under the same brand. This was the 'WiLL' project. The WiLL VS is the second car released under the WiLL brand by the car manufacturer Toyota. Although the WiLL VS was released exclusively for the Japanese market, its unveiling took place outside Japan at the Los Angeles Motor Show. Its styling was inspired by stealth bombers and stealth fighters. The body was redesigned based on the Toyota Corolla, but a grade with a higher output engine than the Corolla was prepared and released as a model boasting high dynamic performance.

Vocaloid technology was made public by Yamaha and a variety of Vocaloid software was sold by various companies. In Japan, Vocaloid songs, illustrations and videos of secondary creation became so popular that they could be described as a social phenomenon, and the technology has come to be fully recognised as a part of Japanese culture.

A single software application can be used to control the voices of two people, Rin (female voice) and Len (male voice). Both Rin and Len are modelled by voice actress Asami Shimoda. They look so much alike that they could be considered identical twins, but they were not set up as twins to allow for a variety of interpretations by the user. They have powerful singing voices.
