Car
Toyota 86 First generation ZN6 type.
Planned at the behest of Toyota President Akio Toyoda. The car was an attempt to revive the famous Toyota Levin/Treno (AE86), known as the Hachi Roku, in the modern era. Development was carried out as a joint project between Toyota and Subaru, with Subaru, which had a capital relationship with Toyota, taking the lead in the development of the body components themselves, while Toyota took the lead in the formulation of the body concept. As a result, Subaru's unique horizontally opposed four-cylinder engine was installed, and the engine's fuel injection system was derived from Toyota's, The Subaru BRZ was an extremely unique car that brought together the technologies of the two companies. While its sibling, the Subaru BRZ, was set up with an emphasis on stability, the Toyota 86 was set up with an emphasis on slide control of the rear tyres, making it more suitable for drifting. President Akio Toyoda has also stated that the 86 was developed as a car that develops the driver in the same way as the former Levin/Treno (AE86), and while the car responds directly to the driver's inputs, it also reflects those inputs properly even when the driver makes a mistake, which is a rare characteristic in this day and age. The car was designed to be a direct response to the rider's control.
