Coupe version of the 12th generation Skyline, Nissan's proud traditional sports sedan. The in-line six-cylinder engine, which had been the symbol of the Skyline since the second-generation Skyline (S5), was abandoned in favour of a V6 engine, which had the advantage of securing a crushable zone at the front, and the exterior design became more luxury-oriented. The exterior design was also substantially changed. The V35 and its improved version, the V36 Skyline, were criticised by Japanese Skyline freaks because of the model change, which was a departure from the Skyline's previous character. On the other hand, the V35 and V36 Skyline models, which Nissan had put its prestige on the line to develop, were both sedans and coupes with a very high degree of perfection. They were particularly well received in North America, where they were marketed under Nissan's luxury brand Infiniti and were considered a good rival to BMW.
