The Spyder and GTV were two sister cars unveiled on the Alfa Romeo stand at the 1994 Paris Motor Show. Despite their similar exteriors designed by Pininfarina, the GTV was a 2+2 coupe with a seating capacity of four, whereas the Spyder, an open model, had a seating capacity of two. Also based on the Spyder and reinforced by a metal roof, the GTV boasted higher driving performance and dynamics than the Spyder, much to the chagrin of eager Alfestas who had been waiting for a successor to the previous generation GTV, which was discontinued in 1987. The GTV became a classic car that is still loved by many fans today for its unique and flowing styling, high practicality and excellent driving performance.
