Maruishi Cycle is a long-established Japanese bicycle manufacturer, descended from Ishikawa Shokai, which was founded in 1894. Ishimaru Cycle introduced the Emperor in 1973 as a touring-style bicycle. Originally designed as a travel bike, the Emperor was a model that combined comfort on long journeys, high performance, sturdiness and carrying capacity at a high level, and since its introduction in 1973 it has been supported by many cyclists and continues to be produced as the company's standard model.
